Yesterday, Symantec announced that Enrique Salem has stepped down as president and CEO of Symantec. In his stead, the board of directors has appointed Steve Bennett as Symantec’s president and CEO. Reports from Symantec state that the change wasn’t due to any single event or problem but instead from a long and considered debate from the board.
While these sort things happen daily in the corporate world, it is always difficult for a business of any size to handle. Consumer confidence always takes a hit when the top man gets the axe, and Symantec will no doubt face some turbulence in the following weeks and months. However, Symantec had reassured partners and consumers alike that it will be business as usual and that Symantec leadership is quite optimistic about the future of the company.
