Every Business wants zero downtime and zero data loss. With that, comes the demand for data availability solutions that will get them closer to that goal along with backup solutions that provide quick recovery in the case of an unfortunate event.
Here’s a brief summary of results from a study conducted by ICS in February 2017 from Veeam customers.
Veeam customers were asked to select the primary benefit of using Veeam. Here is how they responded.
Customers were also asked to rate their experience with Veeam compared to their experience with prior solutions in a number of specific areas. The results are below. As you can see the vast majority of the respondents claimed that their Veeam solution was an improvement compared to their previous solution on average 80-90% of the time.
Veeam customers were asked how much time was spent on data restore operations before and after implementing Veeam. This data is useful for estimating downtime savings. One can reasonably infer that if restore time is reduced by an average of 75-80% as this data suggests, then recoveries from unplanned downtime would be approximately three times faster, at least for the data restoration part of the process. Looking at this data, on average, the total time saved was 10.2 hours. If you take that and multiply it by your hourly cost of downtime (average according to IDC data is $100,000 per hour of downtime), this translates into a strong potential for a very rapid ROI.
Overall Veeam customers reported setting higher SLAs and achieving them more consistently while spending less money and staff time to do so compared with their previous solution. These benefits resulted in better business outcomes and higher staff productivity for customers that have made an investment in Veeam.
Veeam has built its success by focusing on virtual environment backup and the small and medium – sized business (SMB) market.
