Mainstream support for Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 is ending January 13th, 2015. This means that while security updates will continue to be released, complimentary support and feature changes will no longer be available.
On Monday, December 15th, distribution centers will no longer be selling Windows Server 2008 R2. Once stores sell their stock, no more will be produced. Stock will become rare. and price will go up. If you don’t plan on upgrading soon, we’d recommend buying those extra licenses now.
